New Year 2007 Celebration - Part 1
After a little but of thinking my friends and I
decided that it was time to get together and celebrate this New Year's
Eve. I'd like to remind the fact that in Ukraine New Year's Eve is like
Christmas Eve in Canada - the main holiday of the year, the one when
Santa Claus comes and gives presents to everybody. Although Santa is
called in a different manner in Ukraine (Grandpa Frosty if you translate
it literally) - he still does the same job as Santa in Canada, although
comes a bit late. Since Santa is really busy this time of year it was
decided that I help him out a bit with his duties =)
We rented a cottage outside of town for this party.
Although the cottage was somewhat far away, we got great use out of it.
First of all it was affordable (closer to December 31st rent prices for
New Year parties skyrocket), had lots of room, an outdoor bath-house
(where we spent a lot of time) and other things necessary to make this
kind of party possible and fun.
And so, the first element of the puzzle was laid
down. Next, we got the people interested in this event: Yulia, Lena,
Vania, Sasha, Nina, Ihor and Mira (and their two kids - Slavik and
Yulia) and, of course, yours truly. Next part was the entertainment
program for the night. This mammoth task, besides the organizational
issues, was laid down on my shoulders. But in the end it all paid off.
The program was great, in my honest opinion of course, and everybody
seemed to say afterwards that they had a lot of fun.
And so, without further adieu, I shall briefly
describe how it was. We got to the cottage around 8pm. After unpacking
and getting everything ready I decided to get a couple of games going -
one of them was a simple one:
"Question
and Answer" - it involved people taking random questions and answers
from a hat and reading them out loud. It was a lot of fun - everyone was
laughing to the point of crying, I honestly didn't think that these
games would be so much fun. If you ever have a party, give this
game a try - results guaranteed !
These few
hours before the New Year went by really fast, after all, we had a lot
to do and laugh at =)
Then it was time to meet the New Year 2007. And a few
minutes later we got visited by Santa Claus. Strangely enough Santa was
wearing my ski coat, my boots and even my pants =)
Check out the pictures below to see what was
happening.

Start by sitting everyone in a BGBGBG fashion (B
- boy, G - girl). A person draws a random question and asks it to
his/her neighbour on the left (or right) who then draws a random
answer. After answering (s)he draws a random question etc. The
process is repeated until everyone is on the floor laughing
uncontrollably. Results Guaranteed !!!
NOTE: Better played when contestants have already drank some.
Possibilities for questions and answers are
limited only by your imagination and creativity. The number of
questions and answers depends on the number of people playing. We
had 10 players and 84 questions / answers.
